the last thursday with lisa :(

i'm crying :( this is the last thursday's with lisa and i almost dropped the ball. i'm sorry about that. i had some picture issues last night, and was going to post this morning, but while dropping the kids off, i recieved a phone call and had to go to a meeting that lasted about 2 hours longer then i though. i didn't reapply this term because of things like that, i'm trying to get my business built up bigger and it's taking up more of my time. i'm so sorry about the lateness. anyway, back to my project. i used stumpie from original grumpies from smeared ink i pleated some pattern tissue paper and glued it on to a book page. colored stumpie with my copics (if i do say so myself, i'm getting a little better at that). made a cute flower and used an ms punch for the butterflies, which finish it off. i'm going to miss the wonderful group of ladies on the smeared ink team, i will still be hanging out in the smeared and smudge forum so come and join in. please keep showing love to all the great work you see here on this wonderful blog.  sadly i say enjoy! lisa

Smeared Ink Monday!!

Good Monday Morning All!!  While it continues to be frigid here in the Northeast, my mind is turning towards SPRING!!  YAY!!   I'm noticing that many of my creations are tending towards yellows, flowery, bright and cheery!!  Man, do we need it!!  LOL!

My Smeared Ink creation today starts out with PTI cardstock in Lemon Tart. Using Smeared Ink's - Urban Decay set, I inked the background using the chain link fence stamp with SU! Daffodil Delight ink.

I then used the fence from the Killer Bo Peep set and stamped it using SU! Early Espresso ink.  And I placed the fence vertically - as if it were a ladder.

I used my quickie glue pen to color in the fence and used my yellow Doodlebug glitter to sparkle it all up.  I then grabbed my new Spellbinders Nesties - Label Nine dies and using both Basic Grey (larger) and Bo Bunny (smaller) and inked up one of the amazing stamps from the Inky Dreams set.  I inked the word ART in all of it's splattery goodness up with Momento ink in Tuxedo black.

As lasting touches, I used some new seam binding for my golden bow and white linen twine around my die cut to tie a tiny and thin bow.

I hope you have enjoyed and  been inspired!!  See you tomorrow for our Smeared Ink End of Term hop!!

It Can't rain all the time

today's project I had so much fun making...I think it took me almost all week I just had a blast! I made it for the Oh The Horror challenge in the forum...the movie is my fave...The Crow...

I think I'm going to try to make a frame or something for it to hang in my craft room...I got the background paper idea from the Ink Stains blog I did take some pictures of how I did it that I will share with you later, but it is allot of papers and I think all of them are from Lisa's Scrapfactory Etsy store....The flowers I glimmer misted black glued a lil jewel in the middle.... I then used my symbology of angels stamp and gave him a bunch of black hair and makeup to match the crow...he is a little buff but it works...and the background stamps are from quoth the raven..oh and the little crows are from Holy City! thanks for taking a lookie look, see ya around the forum!

Glam Vamp Ann-Marie

Happy Friday! I have a short-n-not-so-sweet Smeared Ink post for you today. Why the short? Because we are the proud new owners of a puppy! After all that happened to us in the last few months, we thought that a pup would be something to really help us get through it all. Now if only she’d stop peeing in the house! ;) Why the not-so-sweet? Because I am using Ann Marie, one of the Smeared Ink Glam Vamps.
I colored her using my markers and pencils. Then I took some kraft card stock and stamped the “Bite Me” from Smeared Ink’s Teen Style Sayings set. Clear embossed it. Then I took my Martha Stewart drippy stencil (originally made for decorating cupcakes), and used some Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist to make the background pop. The mist doesn’t stick to where the embossing is, which I think looks really cool.
You can see the shine and glimmer from both the mist and the embossing powder here. You can click on any of the pictures to get a closer look. I am entering this card into this week’s Macabre Monday which is “Dastardly Divas.”

I know…I know…you wanna see the up, right? Meet Abigail…our little Potcake from Turks & Caicos. :)

Isn’t she a cutie? And there’s Rhi, giving her a hug. She fit right into our family! Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!!!

Smeared Ink Monday

Hey All!!  Today I was inspired by Tiffany Johnson's sketch here!  Super simple and super quick!  Sometimes I'm in the mood to whip something up when I have a ton of other things going on.  Today is one of those days!!

I've used my all time favorite Smeared Ink set - Inky Dreams along with the awesome spider from the Killer Bo Peep set.
I've used a selection of purple inks, Momento Ink in Tuxedo Black, colored staples along with a strip of silver metallic pearls to complete this simple yet fun creation.

I hope you have enjoyed and been inspired!

Smeared Ink Saturday and March Sketch Challenge

In today's edition of Smeared Ink Saturday with Lady B, I am contributing a project I made for the March Sketch Challenge over at the Smeared and Smudged Forum.

Here is a pic of the sketch:

Here is my take on the sketch:

As you can see, I've flipped the sketch and changed the flourish a bit.  I used an awesome Misty Benson image which was made into a rubber stamp set for Smeared Ink.  The set is called "Morbidly Adorable Tarot, set 1 and the image itself is "The World".  It can be purchased at the Smeared Ink Store.

I stamped the image with Memento Ink onto Copic X-Press it blending cardstock and colored it with my copic markers.  As you can tell, I am fond of bold, bright colors.  These divine papers are from Crafty Chaos Designs.  I am in love with the rich purple and greens in this set!  They print out as nicely as you see them on screen.

This month, if you participate in any of the challenges over at the Smeared and Smudged forum, you automatically receive a free digi and will be entered into a drawing for a digital stamp set of your choice from Smeared Ink!

Oh!  More big news!  Smeared Ink is having a Design Team Call!  Find the details here.

Thanks for Stopping By!

A Skull Stompin' Glam Vamp!

Helllllooooo and welcome to Friday! So glad the weekend is just about upon us, though it will be a busy weekend in the Heikkila House…but that’s a ‘nuther story.

Since it’s Friday, that means it’s my turn to share a Smeared Ink creation with you. I tied this one into this week’s Macabre Monday (Alas…Poor Yorick). I chose to use one of the Glam Vamps (Christine) along with the skull from the Quoth the Raven set.

I promise you my card isn’t cut crooked…it’s just the photographer. ;) I colored this hot little chica up with my watercolor markers and a touch o’ colored pencils.
Can I just say that I want her boots?! My sentiment is from Stampers Anonymous. I thought it was pretty snarky! Alas…poor Yorick!

The sun washed out the color a bit here…but I wanted you to see that I embossed the skulls in clear. Sooooo….? What do you think? I like it, personally…but I would rather you toot my horn for me! ;)
Hey! Didja know that the Smeared Ink Design Team is having a DT call! YOU could be one of US! How rad would that be?!? Read all the deets HERE. You’ll be glad ya did! Have an inspiring day!!!

thursday's with lisa

hello and welcome back! sorry i've been gone, but i've been busy, busy, busy. and as y'all read this i will be traveling/in austin at sxsw!!!! oh how super duper exicted i am! it almost didn't happen! anyway, i made this using the super awesome stamps from smeared ink. it's a box that i first painted silver, then i cut 2in squares of three different types of paper and glued them on. i then inked it up with three different types of distressed inks, while it was still wet from glue and ink i sanded it alot. then covered it with versa pad and added disstress embossing powder, wipped some away and heated. i stamped my images on a brown paper bag, i used two different types of disstressed ink on each
then crinkled the paper inked the entrie image with aged paper ink and lightly sanded it. i think it turned out pretty groovy! enjoy! lisa don't forget to join us at the smeared and smudge forum! happy st. paddies day!!!!! (see the green)

Smeared Ink Monday!

Greetings Everyone!!! I'm here with you on another awesome Smeared Ink Monday!! I'm feeling SO in the mood for spring that I had to bust out the grumpie lil' bunny from the Occasions Lil' Grumpies set. Isn't she the cutest?? I laugh every time I see her!!

My bunny is inked with Momento Ink in Tuxedo Black and colored in with my Copics. I paired my image with pinks and greens for spring along with sparkly bling and stitched ribbon. I, of course, added some lime green stitching to my two main panels.

I hope you've enjoyed my simply cute creation today!!

Killer Bo Peep pen holder

Its my smeared ink Sunday and I have finished the project I started last week :) I'm so happy with how it turned out..I have seen people making pen holders and thought I would give it a go, now I want to find more canisters to transform...here is what I have made...

I used the Killer Bo Peep's Build a Garden set and first stamped and masked and stamped my mushrooms, then I masked and stamped my Bopeep and her lil sheep, I then colored everything with markers and colored pencils, I added some puffy snow stuff to my sheep and tinted it a little with a brown marker, I then stamped and cut out my flowers to go around the top, tied it with ribbon...and there I have it...a really cool pen holder from a metal Pirouline canister.... my motivation for this was the challenge from our Sugar our guest DT this month...she challenged us to make something green... color and recycled.

thanks for taking a look, and be sure to stop by the Forum for more great inspiration and challenges!

Spring is in the Air...Almost!

It's time again for Smeared Ink Saturday.

Although it's still chilly, spring is in the air.  The winds are picking up and the sun is shinning.  I spotted a robin the other day and saw some early spring flowers starting to poke out of the earth.  Today's project is reflective of spring and summer...bursting with color and romance.

background: Itkupilli
Copics: Dress: BV0000, BV02, BV04, BV08; face: skin white, R20, Baby skin pink; lady's hair: sepia, caribe cocoa, walnut

Misty Benson's High Priestess

Happy Friday! It's Alison and I have another card to share with you today. I’m going to be honest…I was a bit intimidated by this image. It’s stunning, but super intricate. And even though I color every day, this image scared me a wee bit. But now that I have done it once, I truly look forward to coloring it again. What image is it? It’s the High Priestess from Smeared Ink’s Misty Benson Tarot Set 1. Let’s take a look.

Seriously, she is totally cool. But uber detailed. It took me quite a while to finish her up, because I really wanted to plan out her colors. And I really like the end result!

I only used watercolor markers for this image. No pencils! I know, it’s a shocker! I was really worried about the hair. I wanted to make sure it was just right. And by golly, it’s just how I pictured it should be!

Here you can see that I added a lot of glitter. All the white has Stickles, and I used some around the edge of the image as well. If you click on this or any of my other photos, you can see them bigger.

I had this cool chipboard swirl from Making Memories and I thought it worked really well here. This was such a fun card to make…once the intimidation wore off! I really love this stamp set! Have an inspiring day!!!

HAPPY MARDI GRAS

Welcome to Fat Tuesday everyone!!!  I am so stoked that today is my day to post on Smudgy Antics.  I totally miss being in Louisiana during this time of year!  I am a Louisianaian born and bred and though the military life has taken me away and retired life will keep me away it is still home in the heart!!  Especially around festival times!!!  Not only Mardi Gras, cause peeps let me tell ya, us cajuns we can throw a party for anything and everything!!!! AHHHH  memories.... but I digress, on to the project!

Today I have for you the Mardi Gras Queen!   I know she is actually the High Priestess from the Morbidly Adorable Tarot 1 Set, but today she is the Mardi Gras Queen!!!  With her bed of beads she is standing on, I don't know if she will throw them or not, but you can always flash her some skin in the hopes that she will!!  She also has beads floating around her, how she does that and still finds the time to interact while on the float I will never know!!!

List of Ingredients:
Morbidly Adorable Tarot set
SU cardstock
Mardi Gras Beads
Copic Markers
Distress Stickles

Smeared Ink Monday - Altered Photography at Mixed Media University

Good Monday Morning!!
I'm here with you today with an sample from the altered photography class that I "taught" (posted) on the Smeared Ink Forum yesterday!!  I provide many techniques for altering the surface of a photograph.  Whether you are into scrapbooking, altered art, altered art journaling, photography, stamping, etc these techniques are super fun and force you to look at your photographs in a completely different light!

These techniques are also so fun for children to use on any photographs that are duplicates, fuzzy, etc to help teach them that art isn't just about paper and pencils, poster board, canvas, etc.  It really helps push their imaginations outside of the box!  (I wouldn't recommend the burning techniques with little ones - for obvious safety reasons)

Please come check out my class on the Smeared Ink Forum

I hope you enjoy and have been inspired to try something totally new!!!

Smeared Ink Fish tails

Today is my Smeared Ink day and I have chosen to share with you an occasion lil grumpie

This is my first time using this image and I had so much fun with it, I added glitter to some of his scales and some liquid glass to his eye, and the rest is in colored pencils. For some reason every time I look at this image I just laugh! I love the grumpies!

Be sure to stop by the forum today, there is a new Mixed Media class starting hosed by the lovely Meredith!

My computer ate my original project.

Sorry for the late posting, but I'm having major computer issues today.  I can't even retrieve the final version of my project so instead I will be showing a simple ATC I made.  I used images from Smeared Ink's Femdom digital stamp set colored with copic markers and paired with an ATC background from Itkupilli.  It is very simple, but I like the contrast between the bold color and the black and white.  I feel like this is missing something.  Perhaps a border or some dimension.  I'll probably rework it.  Maybe I'll do that and repost at another time.

Thanks for Stopping by!

Breaking Out Some Old Favorites

Greetings fellow Smeared and Smudgers! I am so happy it's Friday! I could practically smell the weekend. Today, my offering uses 2 of my favorite Smeared Ink sets: Chicks Dig Guns and Holy City. I love mixing sets together. This is what I came up woth this time around.

I colored Tori (yes! That is actually Tori!) in with colored pencils, and I added a touch of color to the cemetery using chalk.

I also inked and smudged the heck out of eveything else, 'cause that's how I roll! Can I just say that I want to be a stamp? Like, have a stamp image of me... How rad would that be? Hint, hint Terra and Tori! ;)

The bullet holes were the final touch. I thought about using brads or eyelets, but the "holes" are much better here. I hope you enjoyed my card for today. Thanks for stopping by! Have an inspiring day!
