Smeared Ink Monday - Skelly Chic!

Good Morning All!!  I hope everyone's had a great weekend!!
I was busy crafting and organizing all day yesterday.  So relaxing!  My card today uses a true mish mash of goodies that I found hanging around my craft table.  I used Smeared Ink's 'As Death' set, combined with a rustic color palette of chocolate and light browns, greens, blues and assorted neutrals.

I used my Cricut to cut oval in order to add extra dimension to my focal image of the skeleton.  I bundled a collection of vintagey chic yet messy grouping of pearls, rhinestones, stamped images, felt stickers and ribbon on the left hand side to compliment and balance my bold and large focal image.
I hope you have enjoyed and been inspired by my creation today.  I really love the combination of the dark image yet the light and elegant balance of the clustered embellishments!

Thanks for popping by today!!  Come hang out with us on the SI forum!!  There is always something fabulous going on there!

Short and Sweet Saturday

Lady B here with Smeared Ink Saturday.  Today's post will be short as I have a ton of things to do today.  Here is a project I started last night using the "Morbidly Adorable Tarot" set 1 featuring artwork by Misty Benson.  You can purchase this set at the shop.  I used "The High Priestess" image from this set, stamped her with Memento Ink, colored her with Copic Markers, and put together a simple card using papers from Crafty Chaos Designs.  I accented this piece with Distress Stickles.

You may not realize it, but even we DT members do not create perfect projects.  I have flaws in my projects all the time, but most do not notice the flaws other than myself, of course.  I am not a great stamper and do not always get a clear image.  If you look closely at the project above you will see areas that did not stamp perfectly.  I am also VERY SLOPPY when it comes to coloring.  This is improving as I bought some awesome cardstock that dramatically reduces any bleed from my markers.  Check out "into the dark" on the forum for a little review on this product.  Why am I telling blog land that my projects aren't perfect?  Because NO project is ever perfect.  I encourage you to try to work with your mistakes and see what you end up with.  Your marker smeared?  Make that area a shadow or rub distress ink over your project for an intentional grungy effect.  Art supplies are too expensive to toss aside a little mishap.  Playing with our mistakes increases our skills as artists.  Most of my favorite projects derived from mistakes.  Let go of your idea of perfection and let the art flow.  Let the feeling of your piece take over.  You may really like what you end up with.

Cheers!

Screwed

Greetings fellow Smeared Ink fans! 'Tis I, Alison. I thought I would share a layout I made for the Roller Derby custom scrapbook that I have been commissioned to create. Of course, I used some Smeared Ink stamps on it, as Friday is my day to share SI projects with you.

I used some of the screw heads from the Urban Decay collection. I didn’t cut them apart…I kept my rubber intact because I knew it would make a fab border someday!

Please check out the black patterned paper. It’s filled with screws! That’s how I got the idea for the title and for using the screw head stamps. I embossed them, so they are raised and glossy. You can click on either of the images to see them bigger.

Not a super exciting post today, and I’m sorry for that. But I feel like hell (I am so sick of having a cold!) and I really need some rest. On a good note, I got some excellent feedback for the woman who commissioned me to make this album. That’s always great news! Have an inspiring day!

Wednesday with Blackdragon

I am sorry i missed last week i just had no time to create anything.... but this week i had a play at altering again.
This little coin purse/bag thingy.... both my girls want it.... but i have only the one!
I stamped 'STUMPIE' from SMEARED INKS orginal Grumpies set, with stazon directly onto my bag, padded out the little pocket and coloured him in using fabric paints.... i like to use this paints quite wet so i can blend them, so i do have to pad out my work.... i am speaking from experience... i have ruined a few things with the colour seeping through. I added a chain with beads and bells to the zip.... and 3 buttons at the top, just to balance the overall design. Thanks for looking.

New Toys.....

Ok so I got my new, well new to me, Misty Benson sets from Smeared Ink a few days ago and couldn't wait to play!  Problem was I didn't know what to do.  I only have the one set of Copics, which I am rectifying one payday at a time, but none of the colors I have screamed use me loud enough that I wanted to pay attention to them so..... I dug through the drawers and pulled out my prisma color pencils, none of them were screaming loud enough either, but then I heard it.  On one side of the craft room there was a faint, hello did you forget about us, and then on the other side I heard it also.  So I went looking and guess what I found, watercolor crayons and pencils.... Yep I used them.  Now your probably thinking, watercolor really, there so dull!  Well you have never seen me watercolor.....LOL  no really, I have some very very very bright colors.  Anyway I couldn't pass up this image to share today as she is protecting her teddy from whomever may try to take it!  I love it!  Hope you enjoy!
please excuse the photo, when I went to take pictures, the camera has dissappeared and when I did find it, in my daughters room, it was dead so this is from my phone....I will get better ones when the camera charges!!!

A Snuggly Smeared Ink Monday

Good Morning!!  It's snowy again here in the Northeast and while I am DEFINITELY enjoying the winter, the snuggly weather, the "permission" to hunker down and be inside cooking, creating, organizing, whatnot, I am finding that my thoughts are starting to drift towards spring.  Green grass, buds on the trees and bushes, chirping birds and that smell.  You know that springy smell.

So in my creation today I was channeling the upcoming spring by using all greens.  I LOVE the Heart Wings digi set from Smeared Ink.  Super versatile and so fun.  Dark when you need it to be but it can be lively and light as well!!  Hence, it's versatility!!

I kept my card crisp and clean today.  Something I struggle with as I ALWAYS want to add more and more!!
As you can see, I printed my image (twice) on the larger side, colored it with my Prisma pencils, blended with my Burt's Bees Apricot Baby Oil and paper blender.  I used a variety of greens to make this image pop.

I colored and trimmed the wings out of my second printed image, ran them through my Xyron (image side down) so that the front would be all sticky.  I then sprinkled my glitter on the wings and VOILA!
I added the wings with a single glue dot where the heart and wings connect.  My sentiment "Absolutely Fabulous" is from PTIs Mixed Mega Messages set.  LOVE IT!!

I hope you have enjoyed and been brought thoughts of Spring!!

Smeared Ink Saturday...In the Dungeon

Welcome back to another episode of Smeared Ink Saturday with Lady B.  Today we will be visiting a Dungeon in Chicago, IL with two of our favorite ladies from "Femdom".

The background is an actual photo fromt the LRA website.  Gotta love google!  Type in a few key words and find whatever you want.  I don't know who took the photo so I cannot give proper credit.  I'm not selling this so hopefully I am not infringing on any copywrite laws.  On top of the photo I inserted my Smeared Ink "Femdom" digis that were previously printed and colored with copic markers.  I added a few drop shadows and digi papers from Crafty Chaos Designs.

#39, That's How I Roll

I was just commissioned to create a custom scrapbook. The album is about a local roller derby team. This album is going to be a blast to make! I have the first double page spread to share with you. And, since it’s my day to share a Smeared Ink project, I used some of their rad stamps on the spread. Bear with my photos, please. They are awful.

You’ll be able to see this a lot better if you click on it..it’ll make it bigger! I started off by using “That’s how I roll” from the Teen Style Sayings set. Then, I went to my new fave go-to stamps from Quoth the Raven. I adore those background stamps!

The photographer took a mess of action shots of #39 (who is receiving this album as a gift) as she went around the rink. I thought that it was a great idea.

I plan on adding some more embellishments to this page, but at the moment, I’m not sure what they’ll be. It looks almost finished to me…but not completely. But I was really happy when I realized that I had that Smeared Ink title. It’s perfect for this spread! Hope you like my layouts. Have an inspiring day!

thursday's with lisa

morning merry sunshines'! how cute is this little pizza box! i would love to share where i got the template, but i don't remember, it's super tiny though. i'm going to try a do a search for a bigger one. i used 2 different sets from smeared ink, candy is dandy and the new digi set femdom.
for the inside, i printed the 'my pet' from femdom really small and sprayed it down with water and pearl ex, i figured it was to small to even try and color, then added a bunch of flowers from prima and some jewels. oh, i almost forgot, i started off by inking the white card stock with red then black, then red again.
for the top, which is put on backwards by the way, i used the heart from candy is dandy, which i stamped on a book page, then i cut out, just the heart part, cause with the awesome black around it, would not fit on the box.
for the bottom, i used a book page, tissue paper, and paper. please, join us at the smeared and smudged forum, and i'm going to enter this into our guest designer jane's challenge, in which you are to make a box, with the theme dark love. oh! and if you enter a challenge you get a free digi, how flippin' cool is that! now go, check them out pick one or all and enter, enter, enter! enjoy! lisa

Carnie Poster

Hello all, It's tuesday and I'm Kelli and that means that it is my day to post!  Today I am sharing with you a "poster" I made!  It's really  6x6 that I made using a technique I just learned that I haven't made into anything yet!  It will eventually be either part of an altered canvas or a poster I have in mind for Smeared Ink images!!! Maybe by next week I will know what I want to do and then we can go on a creepy little jaunt to the end of a project...Anyway, this technique will eventually make it into a tutorial and be posted on the forum, but for now it is what it is!!!

I really hope you enjoy the project and be sure to check out all the goings on over on the forum.  Reember there are some wonderful prizes to be won over there!

Smeared Ink Monday - Happy Valentine's Day!!

Good Monday Morning Loveies!!  (hehehee) (I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Valentine's Day!)!!!

I'm with you today with a Smeared and Smudged sketch creation!!  I drew inspiration this week from the Very Sketchy section of the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  Here is the sketch challenge for February!

I absolutely LOVE Smeared Ink's Inky Dreams set.  It's fabulous for backgrounds or focal images as I've used here.  My card starts out with a white sparkly cardstock base (PTI) and continues on with hues of pink and brown.
I inked my stamp up in SU!'s Cherry Cobbler ink and coated it with my extra thick embossing powder.  Once I heat set it I doused it again with the embossing powder heat it to give it an extra wet painty look.  I LOVE how it came out!

Once cool and dry, I sent my inky piece through my Big Shot using a Cuttlebug embossing folder that has gears all over it.  It's subtle but adds great texture!
Following the sketch, I trimmed my main panel into 4 sections with the bottom part trimmed as well.  I adhered everything down and added a pearl flourish and 3D metal butterfly to the mix.
I hope you all have a fabulous Valentine's Day!!!

I hope you have enjoyed and been inspired to create something with LOVE today!!  =)

Poe Gift Box

Today for your viewing pleasure I have altered a gift box I was given...it was all pink and cute so I had to go all Smeared Ink on it and make it cool!

(click on pic for larger view)

I used my Quoth the Raven Set and stamped all over a glimmer misted newspaper, then modge podged it onto the gift box...I thought this looked pretty perfect for a v-day present!

Speaking of V-day be sure to check back tomorrow for our Valentines Day hop....Smeared and Smudged style!!

Love, Honor, and Obey! This is a command, not a request.

Wecolme to another addition of Smeared Ink Saturday with Lady B.  Today's post is a bit Risque.

I used two images from Smeared Ink's "Femdom" digital stamp set and colored them with copic markers.  I scanned them and added them to a cool dungeon pic I found online.  I couldn't see who made it so I can't give props. Heck, it may even be from a video game for all I know.  Anyway, the dungeon background worked perfectly with these images.  I used digi papers from Crafty Chaos Designs and typed in a sentiment.

Cheers!

Perfect Couple

Hiya folks! It's Alison, and Friday is my day to post here! I hope you are all enjoying the new Smeared & Smudged DT blog. On to my project. I used an image and sentiment from one of the newest digi collections, Smitten. I love this collection because it's got fantastic vintage images that have just the right amount of snarkiness. And the sentiments are very versatile.
I used Crabby Love for my focal image. It's colored with pencil. I was inspired by this week's Mojo Monday, so I used that to make the layout of my card.

This is probably "prettier" then you're used to seeing from we Smeared & Smudged gals...but I like to change things up a bit. And doesn't this image just beg to be "pretty?" On the inside, I'd like to put something witty, like: "Because you're both crabby!" What do you think?

I spritzed the sentiment with Glimmer Mist. Then I inked it and tore up the edges. I added some pretty rhinestones and rain drops for splashes by the girl's feet.

Hope you liked my card! Don't worry, next Friday I'll be back to my gothic old self again! Be sure to check back here often...each day a different member of our fabulous Design Team will post a new project! And, Tuesday is our monthly member blog hop...so be sure to check that out! Have an inspiring day!

thursday's with lisa

hello and welcome to smeared ink thursday! terra went to a place, i believe it's called, creative station, and came back with some awesome stuff. this was a milk carton, that's been cleaned. i painted it with blue, red, and silver paint. then i used chick dig guns set. i had no rhyme or reason with this, i just wanted to make something! i used the bullet holes for the background of the music paper, i covered the other side with distress embossing powder, before i heated, i ran a stick threw to create lines, then heated. i embossed the hearts then cut them out.
on the heart side, i used a piece of vinyl like material that i tried to cover with embossing powder, then changed my mind, wiped it off and left whatever was in the creases, heated, then embossed my hearts, and the spot on the bottom of the blue one, kinda of looks like a gun shot (total accident). i stamped 'chicks dig guns' on card stock, distressed the edges and added some jewels. i added eyelets on to the top and ran some ribbon through and tied closed! how are you liking all this smeared ink goodness in one place? i know i'm loving it!  enjoy! lisa

Wednesday is blackdragon day!

Happy wednesday to everyone, today is my turn to share something with you.
I have altered a box.... using the sculpture paper that Terra gives a brilliant tutorial on, on Mixed media university.
After making my paper ....i used clear gesso mixed with red paint...i cover my empty box with it... i distressed the edges with black paint and silver metallic rub-on cream.
I used T!m Holtz die-cuts around the sides of the box...painted black and distressed same as the box. I painted a wooden heart red, triple embossed with clear embossing powder.... i added a little chinese laquer around the edges just before stamping my SMEARED INK, GODDESS,
into it.

I made 2 lace flowers, coloured some silk leaves black, added some ribbon and placed that on the box top with my GODDESS heart.
Finally i added the word 'love' .... there you have it... a recycled box, fit for a Valentines gift.... oh dear...now to make something to put in it!
Thank you for joining me today. Please remember to go and check out TERRA's tutorial.... sculpture paper was so easy to make and fun to work with.... i have some deep purple waiting for me!
All the best,
lynx

Smeared Ink Tuesday with Kelli

Hello all,
Today I am offering you a creation inspired by Jane - who is our fabulous Guest Designer for February.  Her challenge is to make or alter a box or bag to hold a valentine gift or card.  This box will be for my lovely daughter because this is one of her favorite sets, and the boys would just look at it and say, naked lady!!!LOL

I used the Nymphs set from Smeared Ink which is very lovely and some papers the DT received from our very own Lisa.  It's a simple box really, but the images are wonerful, and I love using the pattern paper as a wall paper sort of technique.

For my box I used:
Nymphs- Smeared Ink
paper pack from Lisa
acrylic paint
stazon Jet black
peeled paint distress ink
